The Bar 717 Ranch sits on 450 acres of beautiful wilderness within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest (Elevation: 2,000ft).

We are located 16.8 miles west of Hayfork, California in Trinity County, about 78 miles west of Redding.

*Please note: most internet mapping services underestimate the time it takes to drive the windy roads up to Camp, and there is very limited cell service once you leave Redding or Arcata.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS AND LOCATION FAQS

Getting to the Ranch is an adventure all its own! We’ve rounded up some helpful details about our local area, as well as specific driving directions from a variety of directions.

Road access can change due to weather and construction. Up to date information on any state highway can be found here or by calling (530) 225-3452.

  • Hyampom is the nearest town to the Bar 717 Ranch, about 7 miles (15 minutes) west down the road, while Hayfork is 17 miles (30 minutes) east. The City of Redding in Shasta County is the closest city and is about a 2 hour drive away.

DIRECTIONS TO CAMP

  • It takes about 2 hrs and 15 minutes to drive from Red Bluff to the ranch.

    1. In Red Bluff, take the Adobe Road exit and turn left onto Adobe Road.

    2. Turn right onto Main Street and take the second left onto Highway36/Beegum road.

    3. Continue on Higy. 36 approximately 1 hr and 15 minutes.  

    4. Make a slight right turn onto Highway 3 towards Hayfork.  

    5. Continue on Hwy. 3 for approximately 15 minutes until you reach Hayfork.

    6. At the sign make a left turn onto the Hyampom Road in Hayfork.  

    7. The Bar 717 Ranch is 16.8 miles or 30 minutes down the Hyampom Road.

    8. The parking lot will be on the right hand side of the road.

  • It takes about 2 hours to drive to Camp Trinity from Redding.

    1. From I-5 North take exit 678 Eureka/Lassen National Park.

    2. On the exit ramp, stay left, towards Eureka/44 West.

    3. Cross the Sacramento River.

    4. Follow the signs for 299 West towards Weaverville by taking a right on Pine St. and a left on Eureka Way.

    5. Drive for about 1 hour until just before Douglas City (and about 8 miles before Weaverville) and make a left onto Highway 3 South towards Hayfork.

    6. After a ½ hour drive you will reach Hayfork. Drive through the town of Hayfork and at the far end of town make a right turn onto the Hyampom road.

    7. The Bar 717 Ranch is 16.8 miles (1/2 hour) down the Hyampom Road.

    8. The parking lot will be on the right hand side of the road.

  • It takes about 2 ½ hours to drive to Camp Trinity from Arcata.

    Note: Underwood Mountain Road can be closed by snow from November to April. If you are planning to drive this way during these months, call the Ranch for the latest road conditions.

    1. From Highway 101, take Highway 299 East toward Weaverville.

    2. Go through Willow Creek, and just beyond Burnt Ranch (look for the Burnt Ranch store, and go exactly 1.5 miles more), take a right turn on Underwood Mountain Road* (also called Forest Service Road 60).

    3. At the split with Road 47, stay on FS 60 towards Hyampom.

    4. As you come into the town of Hyampom, you will see the Hyampom School (blue building) on your left hand side and the Community Hall on the right hand side and the road will come to a “T”. Make a right hand turn and go a couple hundred feet and make a left hand turn.

    5. You will go over a bridge and then make a left hand turn towards Hayfork.

    6. Follow the signs towards Hayfork, and drive about 6 miles in the direction of Hayfork.

    7. The Bar 717 Ranch is located on the Hayfork/Hyampom Road.

    8. The parking lot will be on the right hand side of the road.

    *If Underwood Mountain Road is closed: From Highway 101, take Highway 299 East to Weaverville, and then on to Douglas City. At the junction with Highway 3, make a right turn towards Hayfork. From Hayfork follow last part of the directions (above) from Redding.

  • Take I-5 North towards Redding, and once in Redding, follow the above directions to Camp. This trip takes about 5 hours.

  • Take 80 East to 505 North to I-5 North towards Redding, and once in Redding, follow the above directions to Camp. This trip takes about 6 hours.

    Or… 101 North towards Arcata, and once in Arcata, follow the above directions to Camp. This trip takes about 8 hours.

  • Take I-5 South towards Redding, and once in Redding, follow the above directions to Camp.
