Support the Campership Program - & Help Us Make Camp A Possibility For All Kids
In 2025, we received dozens of applications for financial support through the Campership Program. We were thrilled to offer more than $70,000 in Campership awards to support 23 families in sending a child to Camp Trinity on the Bar 717 Ranch. The majority of this support was made possible by donations from our community members who pitched in what they could, whether it was $5 or $5,000. Over the last few years, we have received more applications than we have funds to support, but we have continued to offer Camperships even after funds run out, recognizing that there are so many kids who could benefit from a session of Camp.
We are grateful to the generous camp families, alumni, neighbors, and friends who contributed to this effort to help many families have their first camp experience. Here’s a glimpse into the summer:
“Our kids came home from their two weeks at Bar 717 happier, more confident, and excited to tackle new challenges. Camp helped them become the best versions of themselves.” -Parent
“Bar 717 Ranch helped our kids make lasting friendships, inspired their appetite for adventure, and made them truly appreciate nature more than ever. Being free of devices helped them to really get to know other campers and spend quality time together. They tried tons of new activities, and especially loved riding the horses. They had so much fun participating in the campfires, "Untalent Shows", songs and dances – we still sing camp songs all the time at home. Camp has been a life-changing experience that has given them memories they'll never forget.”

This is why we do this work: to help more kids experience the transformative effects of Camp.
Our fundraising efforts for the summer of 2026 are critical to ensuring that we can continue to offer these opportunities to new and returning campers. Each year, the Ranch contributes to the Campership Fund by selling firewood in the local community, donating revenue from room rentals, and working with local organizations such as the Weaverville Rotary Club to bring deserving kids to Camp.
In addition to these efforts, we are asking for your support in replenishing our Campership Fund.

The Campership Program is administered through the American Camp Association, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and all contributions to our Campership Fund are tax-deductible.
In our fast-paced world, it feels increasingly important to provide kids with an opportunity – and the skills – to slow down, reconnect with nature, and build community. We hope that you will join us in our mission to make Camp available to every child who would like to spend a session on the Ranch. If you have questions or want more information about the Campership Fund, we’d love to connect.
Wishing you a lovely Holiday season!
With sincere and heartfelt thanks,
Bob Small & Laurie Leighty
