Northern California Conservation and Recreation Act

Have you hiked up Gates Mountain?  Jumped off the rock at Below Mays? Swam in the emerald green waters of Corral Creek?  Or just admired the view from main camp?  If so, then knowingly or not, you have enjoyed the amazing natural beauty of the Pattison Peak Roadless Area.

The Bar 717 Ranch is incredibly fortunate to have this undeveloped 28,400-acre Roadless Area as our front yard.  And now we have an opportunity to make sure that it stays wild.

In the coming months, Congressman Jared Huffman, Representative for California’s Second District, will be introducing the Northern California Conservation and Recreation Act.  Along with enhancing protection for many other northern California land and waterways, this legislation will strengthen protections for the area around camp by creating the Pattison Peak Wilderness Area.  Within a designated Wilderness area, we can still hike, swim, ride and camp.  Our access will not be affected, but potentially disruptive activities such as logging, mining, or road-building will be prohibited.

We support this legislation!  Enhanced protection of public lands ensures that current and future generations of campers will be able enjoy the natural beauty of Northern California’s wild lands.  Wilderness designation for the Pattison Peak Roadless Area permanently protects the wild places we cherish.  In the coming months, we will be in touch to let you know how you can add your voice in support of the Northern California Conservation and Recreation Act!
