Hokey Pokey From New Zealand

Hey everyone here is a treat from New Zealand known as Hokey Pokey. It only requires 4 ingredients and y’all sure enjoyed it last year at the international festival. Its super easy to make and really fun.Top tip: You can eat it by itself or sprinkle some of it onto your ice cream!

INGREDIENTS
5 Tablespoons of White Sugar

2 Tablespoons of Golden Syrup (Golden Syrup is a syrup made from cane sugar, you can find it in the baking or international section of your grocery store)

1 Teaspoon of Baking Soda

1/2 Cup of Melted Milk Chocolate

DIRECTIONS
1. Grease the base and sides of a 20 x 20cm slice tin (8 x 8in cake pan) with butter.

2. Place White Sugar and Golden Syrup into a heavy-based non-stick saucepan. Heat gently, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves.

3. Increase the heat and bring to the boil. Boil for two minutes. Stir occasionally, if necessary, to prevent burning. Remove from heat. Add the Baking Soda and stir very quickly – the mixture will froth up rapidly.

4. Pour into prepared tin immediately. Leave until cold and set then break
into pieces.

5. Coat hokey pokey pieces in Melted Chocolate for an extra special treat!

Enjoy,

Holly
