A Camp Song

Grover and ErmaBy Dave “Red” Parker – 1930s Bar 717 Camper

Here’s a nugget from the 30’s that I remember.

Erma wrote the official “Camp Song” for us to sing at campfires (or wherever). I bet I’m the only person in the known world that remembers this. I even remember the tune.  Ready?

Away up there where the mountains begin there’s a camp called Trinity.

And it is there where our hearts are attuned–to the voice of sincerity.

We like to sing as we work and we play with a spirit of harmony

You will find health and happiness, character too

On the trails of our Camp Trinity.

– Erma Gates (1935)
