Things are looking good with regards to the Monument Fire near camp. Our evacuation order was downgraded to a warning a few days ago, then lifted altogether today. The westward progress of the fire was stopped about a mile to the East, just past Cedar Glades. Crews have been pulling hoses off the Pattison trail all the way from the peak down into Miners Creek. They used a helicopter to fly the bundles of hoses and gear out from the bottom down in Hayfork Creek up to Inspiration Point. That saved having to pack everything up the trail. They are leaving our structure protection hose lays for a little while longer.
You can see Lou dog is totally unconcerned by the few hot spots still burning down the road from the ranch in Big Canyon. Those smokers are well within the containment lines. Seems as if most of the firefighting is now happening on the NW and NE corners up by Denny and Hobo Gulch. No indication that the northern progression of the fire in the Trinity Alps Wilderness will be out until either the rains come or the Monument Fire merges with the River Complex.
We are hopeful that the rest of California fares well during the remainder of the fire season.
