Hello beautiful people, we hope you are all doing well! If you’re anything like us, you’re dozing through these shorter days and daydreaming about the summer to come. And if you’re just like us, then you’re dreaming of a summer full of adventure at the Emily’s outpost!
You read right! The outpost is back in business for summer 2019! Hello, we are Sam and Kait, and we have the amazing luck to be running the outpost program this year. The outpost was a smashing success last year, and we’re excited to continue the renewed homesteading tradition that Camp Trinity was built upon. For those of you unfamiliar with the outpost, let us give you a quick summary:
Adventure. Sun. Magic. Community. Freedom.
Too quick? Sorry. Here:
Back in the day, camp at the ranch was made up of a handful of small groups scattered around the woods, all working to make their little places livable and enjoying the freedom of summer in the mountains. We’re going to get right back to those roots, exploring the land around us and improving the homestead one piece at a time! Picking up where Nick and Kira left off last year, we’ll be building new gardens, making homes for new outpost farm animals, and caring for the land we love. Campers who choose to go to the outpost will spend roughly a week living in this unique environment. The outpost is open to campers of all ages and we encourage everyone to check it out.
In our past summers working and playing at the ranch, we have been completely swept up by the magic of camp living. Being a part of a close-knit community that works together to build each other up is an experience that everyone should have–and we’re thrilled for the opportunity to build our own little family at Emily’s this summer. The outpost family forms naturally around ideas that are at the heart of Bar 717 philosophy: collaboration, inclusivity, and freedom of choice. Life at the outpost is a direct expression of these values, like the essence of Camp Trinity distilled. Making a creative, self-sustaining community of people who care about one another and engage with the world around them–one week at a time–is an incredible opportunity for everyone.
We’ve been cooking up a lot of big plans for this summer’s outpost including bread baking, geocache-searching, horseback riding, game-making, craft-flinging, swing-building, song-singing, storytelling, stargazing, and hopefully YOU!
Join us for a summer of adventure, fun, and friendship at the Emily’s Outpost 2019. Not sure? Check out what some of last year’s outpost campers had to say about their experiences:

About Kait & Sam
Hey friends! My name is Kait and this year I will be leading the outpost at Emily’s alongside Sam! This will be my third summer as a counselor and I know it will be the best one yet! In the past, I have worked in the barn, where I cared for our wonderful horses and led trail rides. This spring I am graduating from UC Berkeley with an interdisciplinary degree in novel writing. Some of my favorite things are bread, small baby bunnies, really good books, singing loudly, ripe figs, and camp! I can wait for another summer of adventure at the best place in the world!
Hello! My name is Sam; I’m coming back for my third summer at camp and I couldn’t be more excited. I live in Seattle, Washington where I got an Environmental Studies degree, fell in love with rain, books, and the outdoors, and finally got involved with the cycling community. I’m currently working in the cycling shop at REI and try to do as many things outside as possible! Biking, climbing, hiking, running, anything to keep me in the great outdoors. This summer, I’ll be leading the Outpost Program with Kait out at Emily’s! It’s going to be another amazing summer at the ranch and I can’t wait to see you all soon.
Wow! It sounds like this year will be even better than last year! I can’t wait to see if I’ll make it! I bet that you’ll be awesome outpost leaders, Kait and Sam.
