In 2013, we organized our first backpacking trip to the Trinity Alps for campers who had just finished their 11th grade year and were too old to attend regular camp, but wanted a way to connect with the camp community over the summer. The trip was a great success! In fact, one of the participants and recent counselor, Tessa Westfall, wrote a powerful summary on our blog. You can read Tessa’s account here.
We’re very happy to be able to offer this trip again this summer, and are excited to invite any campers who are 17 years old or have just finished the 11th grade to participate.* Two of our experienced counselors will lead participants on a week-long trip into the Trinity Alps Wilderness, a beautiful area about a 1-hour drive from main camp. The Trinity Alps offer excellent hiking trails with sweeping views of the mountains, access to pristine lakes, and camping spots in beautiful, open meadows.
The trip is a great opportunity for this group of young people to connect with new and old camp friends, spend time in the outdoors, and develop leadership skills. Additionally, participation in the trip is a good step for those who think they might be interested in returning to camp as a counselor in the future.
