Apple Sauce

Homemade apple sauce has been a staple on the Ranch for years. Each summer and fall, we can dozens–if not hundreds–of quarts of apple sauce from apples harvested at Camp. It’s delicious on its own, but it’s also the perfect complement to a ranch pork chop or a potato pancake.

The recipe couldn’t be any simpler:

  • Core and peel apples (for a more rustic apple sauce, you can skip the peeling).
  • Cut apples into chunks.
  • Add apples to a large pot with a bit of water to prevent apples from burning and sticking.
  • Heat until apples are soft and can be easily pierced with a fork.
  • Remove from heat and blend with a blender, immersion blender, or food processor.
  • Add cinnamon and sugar to taste (amount of sugar needed will vary depending on the sweetness of the apples you choose).

Enjoy!
